In the 700 block of Seabreeze Boulevard, not far from the Swimming Hall of Fame, the shooting took place on the evening of May 29. Tarrell Greene, 16, was allegedly seen on camera shooting the other two teenagers in a parking lot close to the beach, according to an arrest complaint. One of the victims was seen riding a bicycle towards Greene and getting near to him; when the victim turned to go, Greene shot him, according to the report.

The second victim was hit on the chin by a bullet fired by Greene while he was riding his bicycle, according to the report. The 15-year-old victim and the 17-year-old victim were both sent to Broward Health Medical Centre for treatment.

Shortly after the incident, Greene was arrested and is now being held on two counts of aggravated violence with a deadly weapon and one count of possessing a firearm while a minor. The boy remained in custody for about two months as the case was investigated, according to his attorney, who appeared on his behalf in court on Friday.

Greene’s lawyer stated that the football player had no past convictions and expressed concern that the case may destroy his professional career. Greene recently disclosed on social media that the University of Miami, Alabama, and other colleges had offered him football scholarships. The judge decided that Greene must be held without bond while he is awaiting trial. The allegations shocked Greene’s football coaches at Plantation High School, where he had been signed up to play this fall.

Darel Strong, who has been coaching Green since he was 11 years old said:

He’s a great kid, ‘yes ma’am, yes sir,’ anything you ask him to do, he’s not going to talk back.”
