Ever since Shannon Sharpe was fired from Undisputed following the 2023 NBA Finals, he hasn’t been quite vocal about the subject. Until now, as the former NFL tight end went candid about his departure from Skip Bayless’ show.

During a live interview on the Black Money Trees Podcast hosted by Jerome D. Love, Sharpe was asked about the time leading up to the NBA Finals a year ago– the time when he parted ways with Undisputed. He was asked to share whether his experience matched up with his initial expectations.

Shannon Sharpe Gets Real About Being Fired from Undisputed
I'd be lying if I told you I thought I would be where I am right now at this point in time. If you knew what I put into that job, you would understand it. Yeah, you see, the greater the expectation, the greater the hurt when it doesn't work out. And I poured so much into that. I gave up everything.
Shannon Sharpe told Jerome Love

"I put so much into that job," Shannon Sharpe explains why it hurt when he got fired from Skip Bayless's show Undisputed and reveals that he lost relationships while working on the show.

The CBS analyst highlighted how indulged he was at that time, as he used to watch every sporting event, in order to, talk about them from an expert point of view. He also claimed he hadn’t thought to succeed at this pace after Bayless fired him but that changed the way he proceeded in his business.

Shannon Sharpe’s post-Undisputed success

Although Sharpe’s departure from Undisputed was a huge setback for him, he has received immense success with his own ventures Club Shay-Shay and Nightcap. The analyst even admitted on a March episode of the Nightcap podcast that he has made more money than he ever did playing in the NFL, with a net worth of $14 million.

He made a few assertive points during the live interview.

And so now I look at that says now I'm no longer talent You can't fire me from Shay Shay Media because I own it. You can't fire me from Nightcap. You can't fire me from Club Shay-Shay. I own it. And so that's the way I look at my business now. You're going to be my partner.
