Pauly D says he’s glad to be a father. He’s probably not glad he has to deal with Amanda Markert, the baby’s mother, based on everything we’ve read.
In any event, the 33-year-old former Jersey Shore star who secretly welcomed a baby girl with his one-time hookup is stepping up and taking responsibility.
No matter what, he says he’ll do right by the baby.
“Sometimes in life things aren’t planned and may even scare you at first, but they end up being a blessing, that is how I feel about having a daughter,” he told Us.
“I’m looking forward to being a parent to her.”
Pauly D Tweeted a similar sentiment Tuesday and confirmed to TMZ that he is “proud I’m a father” and “excited to embark on this new part of my life.”
Since then, his baby mama has been revealed as Amanda Markert, a former Hooters waitress and current VIP hostess who got with Pauly in Vegas.
Nine months later, baby Amabella (above) was born. Amanda Markert, 25, also has an older child, a son named Mikey, from a previous relationship.
Pauly D only recently found out that he was a father.
“She contacted him after the baby was born. He of course had to take precautions before believing the baby was his, but he is excited to be a dad,” an insider said.
Pauly, who feels so strongly that he is seeking sole custody of the child in court, “is taking responsibility and will be in this child’s life one way or another.”
The custody battle is already turning ugly.
“My poor, innocent daughter being exploited. People should be ashamed involving an infant,” Markert wrote after the news of Pauly D’s love child broke.
“I can’t understand how and why people are so cruel and negative,” she added, in reference to what, we don’t know. “My goodness, give it up already!”
