Vince McMahon stepped down from his positions last year as the CEO and the Chairman of WWE after the hush money scandal. However, he eventually returned to the promotion with an eye for facilitating the sale of the company. His return though was not smooth, as the board, which also included both Triple H and Nick Khan, originally stated that his presence in the company would not be in the best interests of shareholders.
Vince McMahon, using his position as the majority stockholder, warned them that unless he was offered his previous position as the chairman, he would not give his permission to any sale or media rights deal.
The board eventually conceded to his demands.
He has since taken over the position of Executive Chairman of the company and has successfully sold the promotion to Endeavor. Furthermore, as promised, he is reportedly not eyeing a return to creative.
But what of Nick Khan and Triple H? Has Vince McMahon, the man infamous for wanting to get even, forgiven them for their insolence?
Does Vince McMahon hold a grudge against Triple H and Nick Khan for opposing his return to WWE?
According to former WWE writer Vince Russo, the future appears to be bleak for Nick Khan more than it is for Triple H.
“Let’s remember, Nick Khan, Stephanie McMahon, and Triple H vetoed him coming back to the board … At that point in time when they did that, I really believe that these are the two things that kicked into Vince’s mind,” Russo said On Writing With Russo. “Number one: over my dead body will you ever own this company, and number two: not only am I gonna sell the company so it will never be yours, but when I do I am gonna be the one soul in charge of creative.”
Russo recalled the time he wanted to fire Shawn Michaels but was stopped by Vince McMahon, who advised him against letting go of people until it was the right time and to continue making money off of them while they still could.
Russo added that he believed with Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel capable of handling negotiations for TV rights, there would be no need for Nick Khan after 2025.
As far as Triple H is concerned, Russo believes he “is so under Vince’s thumb right now” that it is unlikely he will leave the promotion. Although, he did acknowledge the possibility of the WWE Head of Creative starting his own promotion or even joining AEW in the future.

During a conversation with LightShedLive, Nick Khan revealed that Vince McMahon sent out an email to everyone in the WWE post their merger with the UFC to explain the structure of the company. The email maintained Triple H’s position as the sole Chief Creative Officer.
“When this deal was officially announced, Vince sent out a company-wide email to our thousand or so employees, including myself, and in the email, he laid out the structure of the NewCo.,” Nick Khan revealed. “Specifically, he articulated that Paul Levesque remains the sole Chief Creative Officer.”
However, he added that he would still communicate with Vince McMahon and occasionally share ideas with the WWE patriarch. Despite this, he maintained that the WWE Hall of Famer was solely in charge of their weekly television.
“Paul is in charge of creative. If he wants input from Vince or Vince has ideas that he and Paul are going to communicate, that’s always going to be the case. We’re lucky to have Vince. We’re lucky to have Paul in control of creative,” Nick Khan said.
