Chelsea told not to sign 'overrated' Neymar from PSG

Jason Cundy says he doesn’t want the ‘overrated’ Newcastle United transfer target Neymar to sign for Chelsea in the summer.

The former Chelsea player added that Neymar is a ‘brilliant’ performer, but he isn’t at the level everyone thinks he is.

The 31-year-old’s road is seemingly coming to an end at PSG and there is talk that he could be Premier League bound.

Given the money Newcastle United have at their disposal and the fact that they are on their way to the Champions League, they have been mentioned as a team that could sign him up.

Some have already warned the Magpies from doing the deal, but the transfer rumour mill has still thrown that one up.

Nonetheless, amid talk of Neymar’s future, Cundy made it clear that he wouldn’t want him at Stamford Bridge, as he told talkSPORT

“I have been quite consistent over the years with this one,” said Cundy. “There is a reason why PSG is trying to sell him.

“He is obviously a brilliant player. I think overrated. I don’t think he is anywhere near the bracket of Messi. I think he is overrated.

“I don’t think he is the type of person Chelsea needs right now. I just don’t – he flatters to deceive. Since he left Barcelona, he hasn’t won anything of note.”

IS NEYMAR WORTH THE RISK?

One thing is for sure, if you sign Neymar, then you will get entertainment and someone who would boost your team’s profile.

But there are some who just don’t like the outside noise that comes with it, and added to the money you would have to spend for his services, then it could be off-putting.

Either way, with the summer transfer window around the corner and suggestions Neymar will leave, it will be interesting to see which Premier League teams would push the boat out for him.
