You can choose whether to sleep in Heaven or Hell: the 170 rooms are divided between the two, and come in various sizes from ‘medium’ to ‘gigantic’. Heaven is all breezy white and turquoise, with trompe l’oeil wallpaper, sets of silver angel wings, and televisions hidden behind over-sized t-shirts with ‘Fly to Heaven’ emblazoned across the front. Hell is blood-red and black, with ‘Welcome to Hell’ daubed on mirrors, slate grey bed linens, black loos and sinks, and – over the bed – huge mobiles made from cards inscribed with the Seven Deadly Sins.

Yes, it’s OTT, but enter into the spirit and it’s also fun. More importantly, the Simmons mattresses are very comfortable, and the water in the generously sized showers is plentiful and hot. The best rooms are the ‘Large Plus’, with private gardens and outside showers. All rooms have complimentary minibars (stocked with beers, soft drinks and snacks), Bluetooth speakers, smart televisions and useful shopping bags.
